Relax Responsibly

"Relax Responsibly", a slogan used by Corona Extra. In March 2020 seems pretty fitting doesn't it?

You don't need me to tell you that Covid-19 has wreaked havoc around the world these last few weeks. I'm not here to talk about those details, head to the proper sources for current up to date information.

With that being said you've had to change the way you live your life, to limit where you go, who you talk to, limited you're ability to go to work even. No matter how you spend your free time, you are being restricted to social distancing. For a lot of people, myself included, socializing includes watching sports, attending sporting events, discussing sports ALL. DAY. LONG. But now you can't even do that because for all the right reasons, most (if not all) sport associations have come to a halt due to this virus.

Take the toilet paper but don't take our sports dangit!

One of my colleagues has been walking around the office with a dark cloud over his head dreading the fact that he doesn't get to go home and watch all the sports! Unfortunately Rogers Arena is just a big cooler, the Vancouver Giants and the WHL are at a standstill, and March Madness has turned into March Sadness.

I'm here to attempt to fill the void, and it's pretty simple, I want to talk about sports memories. I spent a cup of coffee in the sports world, but I'm no sports expert, I'm not getting paid by The Athletic, and I'm certainly not Bob McKenzie. I'm just an average Joe sports fan like you and I love it like a fat kid loves cake.

I have a laundry list of my own memories, but what fun would it be to JUST hear from me? You want to talk sports memories, hit me up and we can have a conversation to share for the world.Could this be a podcast? Absolutely! Am I socially distancing myself in order to "Relax Reponsibly"? I sure am, so this is a blog instead, try not to judge my writing too much!

One of my favourite live sporting event memories -August 2019
First time at Rogers Centre to watch the Blue Jays play at home
 (and beat the Yankees!)

I don't know how regularly I will post, this is new and unknown. But I do know I will end every blog with this:

While you are reading this, healthcare workers are taking care of those who are sick from this virus. If you have anything to give, the United Nations Foundation have put together a Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization https://covid19responsefund.org/

I sure miss sports, but it could always be much worse.

Stay happy folks!
